{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-268.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 268.010","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Appraisers\" means the board of appraisers appointed by the court.\n(2) \"Board\" means the board of drainage commissioners of the district.\n(3) \"District\" or \"drainage district\" means any drainage, levee or reclamation district\nestablished under this chapter or under the control of the board.\n(4) \"Drain\" includes any ditch, canal, sewer, channel, watercourse, conduit, stream,\ncreek, river, pond, lake, bayou, sluice, or excavation used for the drainage or\nreclamation of wet or swampy land.\n(5) \"Improvement\" means any drain or other work provided for in KRS 268.510,\nconstructed or used for the purposes set out in this chapter.\n(6) \"Owner\" means any person owning a freehold estate in any pro perty in the district\nor affected by it according to the report of the board of viewers, and shall not\ninclude trustees or mortgagees.\n(7) \"Property\" includes land, railroads, sewers, streets and public highways.\n(8) \"Sheriff\" means any collecting officer.\n(9) \"Viewers\" means the board of viewers appointed by the court.","path":["KRS Chapter 268"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12924","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:13Z","sha256":"46c1e1f3f94492184a994468114cc488af1ea99b809bcf3e900ba887b5525af4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-267.990","next":"us-ky/krs-268.015"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
