{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-268.210","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 268.210","heading":"Compensation of officers and employees -- Selection of treasurer.","body":"(1) Attorneys selected by the petitioners to prepare and file ex parte petitions for the\nestablishment of any district shall faithfully perform the duties of attorney in such\nproceedings, aid in the preparation of all reports of the viewers, and do any other\nwork necessary until judgment is rendered on the exceptions to the viewers'\npreliminary report, establishing or refusing to establish the district, at which time\ntheir duties shall cease. If the district is established the court organizing it shall\nallow th e attorney representing the petitioners a reasonable fee for the service\nactually rendered, to be taxed as a part of the cost of the proceeding, and paid by the\nboard out of the funds belonging to the district when funds come into their hands.\n(2) The compensation of the engineer who is a member of the board of viewers shall be\nfixed by the fiscal court at or before the time of his appointment, by order entered of\nrecord. The other viewers and the members of the board of appraisers shall be paid\nfive dollars ($5) per day for the time actually engaged in performing their duties.\nRodmen, chain carriers and other laborers employed in the improvement shall\nreceive three dollars ($3) per day for their services.\n(3) The secretary of the board shall receive three d ollars ($3) per day for attending the\nmeetings of the board and ten cents ($0.10) per one hundred (100) words for matter\nrequired to be written or recorded by him.\n(4) The treasurer shall receive not more than one percent (1%) for receiving and\ndisbursing funds under the control of the board. If any bank or any qualified person\nwill execute proper bond and serve as treasurer without remuneration or will pay the\ndistrict a fee for being allowed to serve as treasurer with the privilege of selecting\nthe depository of the funds, that bank or person may be appointed treasurer within\nthe discretion of the board. The board shall receive bids or terms from all the banks\nof the city where its office is located that desire to act as treasurer, and select the\nbank or person that will best serve the interest of the district.\n(5) The board, except where otherwise provided, shall by resolution at the time of\nemploying or appointing any person to render services, provide for reasonable\ncompensation for the work done and necessary expenses.","path":["KRS Chapter 268"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=12944","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:13Z","sha256":"b91a3efd30cc8084fdc8e445d197145814183c68bebc1008f936e450daa20d3a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-268.200","next":"us-ky/krs-268.220"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
