{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-272.285","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 272.285","heading":"Payment of small amounts due deceased member.","body":"(1) If a member of an association dies; and six (6) months or more after his death the\nassociation has in its possession moneys not in excess of two hundred dollars\n($200) which would have been distributable and payable to such member except for\nhis death; and no administrator or executor has been appointed for his estate or the\nestate has been closed; then such an association, without making any publication of\nnotice, may disburse such moneys in the following order:\n(a) To the surviving spouse of the deceased member; if none, then\n(b) To pay any unsatisfied claims for funeral expenses or reimbursement to any\nperson for the payment thereof, then\n(c) To any adult person of the class of those nearest of kin to the deceased, for the\nbenefit of all members of such class.\n(2) In making such disbursements an association is responsible and liable only for the\nexercise of good faith and reasonable care and shall have no further responsibility or\nliability with respect to such moneys or their application or disbursement.","path":["KRS Chapter 272"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=13548","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:21Z","sha256":"8aaa2f52c89a62822c176d251db4b392eb35ff27ed76fe46ddbf7d37974ab3ff","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-272.281","next":"us-ky/krs-272.290"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
