{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-273.443","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 273.443","heading":"Use of federal funds.","body":"(1) Any funds made available under the federal act shall be used by each grantee of the\nfunds:\n(a) To provide a range of services and activities having a measurable and\npotentially major impact on causes of poverty in the community or those areas\nof the community where poverty is a particularly acute problem;\n(b) To provide activities designed to assist low -income participants including the\nelderly poor:\n1. To secure and retain meaningful employment;\n2. To attain an adequate education;\n3. To access adequate health care;\n4. To make better use of available income;\n5. To obtain and maintain adequate housing and a suitable living\nenvironment;\n6. To obtain emergency assistance through loans or grants to meet\nimmediate and urgent individual and family needs, including  the need\nfor health services, nutritious food, housing and employment related\nassistance;\n7. To remove obstacles and solve problems which block the achievement\nof self-sufficiency;\n8. To achieve greater participation in the affairs of the community; and\n9. To make more effective use of other programs related to the purposes of\nKRS 273.405 to 273.453;\n(c) To coordinate and establish linkages between governmental and other social\nprograms to assure the effective delivery of such services to low -income\nindividuals;\n(d) To encourage the use of entities in the private sector of the community in\nefforts to ameliorate poverty in the community;\n(e) To develop, promote or otherwise encourage economic development activities\nwhich res ult in assisting low -income persons to become economically\nproductive members of their community;\n(f) To provide education, counseling and technical assistance on compliance with\nequal opportunity legislation for individuals and community organizations,\nboth public and private.\n(2) In addition to required services and activities to be provided with funds made\navailable under the federal act, these funds may be used to provide on an emergency\nbasis for the provision of such supplies and services to meet imme diate essential\nneeds of low-income persons including the elderly poor.","path":["KRS Chapter 273"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45358","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:25Z","sha256":"a5f4a6b5a266c0980366b9f0053f48c76d500353e4ed5874fc498d3f0ac5e668","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-273.442","next":"us-ky/krs-273.445"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
