{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-274.005","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 274.005","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context indicates otherwise:\n(1) \"Foreign professional service corporation\" means a corporation for profit organized\nfor the purpose of rendering professional services under a law other than the law of\nthis state;\n(2) \"Professional service\" means any type of personal service to the public which\nrequires as a condition precedent to the rendering of such service the obtaining of a\nlicense or other legal authorization and which, prior to the passage of this chapter\nand by reason of law or a professional code of ethics, could not be performed by a\ncorporation. The personal services which come within the provisions of this chapter\nare the personal services rendered by but not limited to certified public accountants,\npublic acco untants, chiropractors, osteopaths, physicians and surgeons, doctors of\nmedicine, doctors of dentistry, podiatrists, chiropodists, architects, veterinarians,\noptometrists, and attorneys-at-law;\n(3) \"Professional service corporation\" means a corporation org anized under this\nchapter;\n(4) \"Qualified person\" means a natural person, partnership, limited liability company,\nor professional service corporation which is eligible under this chapter to own\nshares issued by a professional service corporation; and\n(5) \"Regulating board\" means the governmental agency which is charged by law with\nthe licensing and regulation of the practice of the profession which the professional\nservice corporation is organized to render.","path":["KRS Chapter 274"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=13780","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:26Z","sha256":"e5c40b3a0b2977c6308c79498b4c927133f82ad26d77032ad2223ef0ec11cc8a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-273a.165","next":"us-ky/krs-274.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
