{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-277.200","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 277.200","heading":"Period of obstructing highway, street or navigable stream limited.","body":"(1) No railroad company shall obstruct any public highway or street, or the navigation\nof any stream, by stopping and permitting trains, engines or cars to stand upon a\npublic grade crossing or upon a drawbridge for more than five (5) minutes at any\none time, unless such stopping and standing is caused by circumstances beyond\ncontrol of the railroad company.\n(2) No member of a railroad train crew shall be held personally guilty of violating a\nmunicipal ordinance regulating the blocking of public grade crossing s by trains,\nengines or cars, on proof that his action was necessary to comply with the orders or\ninstructions of the railroad company or its officers; provided that nothing in this\nsection shall relieve the railroad company from any responsibility placed upon it by\nsaid ordinance.","path":["KRS Chapter 277"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14010","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:29Z","sha256":"08c33634eb0943f12cb70a2f63347abcbdb395ae512ece4fbffb340664652c3c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-277.195","next":"us-ky/krs-277.210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
