{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-277.280","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 277.280","heading":"Bond, powers, and compensation of railroad policemen.","body":"(1) Each railroad policeman shall, before he or she enters upon the discharge of the\nduties of his or her office, execute bond, with good security, conditioned for the\nfaithful performance of his or her duty as such policeman, and take and subscribe\nan oath of office. The bond shall be executed in the county in which the policeman\nresides, or in which the railroad has its registered process agent, if any, within the\nstate, or in which the policeman performs any duties as a railroad policeman, and\nthe bond shall  be approved, and the oath administered, by the county\njudge/executive. The bond and oath shall be entered of record by the county clerk,\nand the execution of the bond and the taking of the oath shall be indorsed upon the\ncommission of the person so qualif ying. Each policeman so appointed and\ncommissioned shall, throughout the counties through which the railroad operates,\nhave and exercise the powers of sheriffs and constables granted police powers in\nmaking arrests for public offenses committed upon or abo ut railroad property, and\nin serving process in criminal and penal prosecutions for such offenses, and shall be\nsubject to all the liabilities of sheriffs.\n(2) The compensation of railroad policemen shall be fixed and paid by the railroad\ncompany for which they are appointed.","path":["KRS Chapter 277"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53283","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:29Z","sha256":"0b373a48b96dd36906195a29f8a406b73ccfa40dc91d66ea6b7a75bb1a17b3de","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-277.270","next":"us-ky/krs-277.290"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
