{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-277.355","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 277.355","heading":"Prohibition against damage, disturbance, or disruption of railroads, trains,","body":"or tracks -- Penalties.\n(1) A person shall not knowingly drop or throw any object at, onto, or in the path of any\nrailroad rail or track, locomotive, engine, railroad car, or  other vehicle of a railroad\ncompany when it is on a railroad track.\n(2) An unauthorized person shall not climb upon or into any locomotive, railroad car,\nor other vehicle of a railroad company when it is on a railroad track.\n(3) An unauthorized person sha ll not disrupt, delay, or prevent the operation of any\ntrain or other vehicle of a railroad company when it is on a railroad track.\n(4) A person shall not knowingly deface, damage, obstruct, remove, or otherwise\nimpair the operation of any railroad grade c rossing warning signal or other\nprotective device, including but not limited to any gate, bell, light, cross buck, stop\nsign, yield sign, advance warning sign, or advance pavement marking.\n(5) Except as provided in subsection (6) of this section, a person who violates any of\nthe provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.\n(6) (a) If a violation of this section causes damage to property in excess of one\nthousand dollars ($1,000) or creates a substantial risk of serious physical\ninjury to a person, as defined in KRS 500.080, the violator shall be guilty of a\nClass D felony.\n(b) If a violation of this section causes physical injury to a person, as defined in\nKRS 500.080, the violator shall be guilty of a Class C felony.\n(c) If a violati on of this section causes serious physical injury to a person, as\ndefined in KRS 500.080, the violator shall be guilty of a Class B felony.","path":["KRS Chapter 277"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14028","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:29Z","sha256":"fff7bb6401a1c94706b5631ea53d8e6e1a955f1dc4664edd2e4216ee6810d6d8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-277.350","next":"us-ky/krs-277.360"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
