{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-278.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 278.060","heading":"Qualifications of commissioners -- Oath -- Restrictions on conduct.","body":"(1) Each commissioner shall be a resident and qualified voter of this state, not less than\ntwenty-five (25) years of age at the time of his or her appointment and qualification,\nand shall have resided in this state for at least three (3) years prior to his or her\nappointment and qualification. Each commissioner shall take and subscribe to the\nconstitutional oath of office, which shall be recorded in the office of the Secretary\nof State.\n(2) No person shall be appointed to or hold the office of commissioner who holds, or\nwhose immediate family member holds, any official relationship to any utility, or\nwho owns any stocks or bonds thereof, or who has any pecuniary interest therein,\nexcept for a pension or retirement savings account if no contributions have been\nmade to it for at least one (1) year prior to the appointment.\n(3) No commissioner shall receive any rebate, pass, percentage of contract or other\nthing of value from any utility.\n(4) In addition to the restrictions on members of the commission set forth in KRS\n278.038, no commissioner shall engage in any occupation or business inconsistent\nwith his or her duties as such commissioner.\n(5) If any commissioner becomes a member of any political party committee, his or her\noffice as commissioner shall be thereby vacated.","path":["KRS Chapter 278"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57094","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:29Z","sha256":"535536df9c4b60db276c093b369d648b2f3c432007974e13fce5e09b9706d622","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-278.050","next":"us-ky/krs-278.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
