{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-278.465","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 278.465","heading":"Definitions for KRS 278.465 to 278.468.","body":"As used in KRS 278.465 to 278.468:\n(1) \"Eligible customer -generator\" means a customer of a retail electric supplier who\nowns and operates an electric generating facility that is located on the customer's\npremises, for the primary purpose of supplying all o r part of the customer's own\nelectricity requirements;\n(2) \"Eligible electric generating facility\" means an electric generating facility that:\n(a) Is connected in parallel with the electric distribution system;\n(b) Generates electricity using:\n1. Solar energy;\n2. Wind energy;\n3. Biomass or biogas energy; or\n4. Hydro energy; and\n(c) Has a rated capacity of not greater than forty-five (45) kilowatts;\n(3) \"Kilowatt hour\" means a measure of electricity defined as a unit of work of energy,\nmeasured as one (1) kilowatt of power expended for one (1) hour; and\n(4) \"Net metering\" means the difference between the:\n(a) Dollar value of all electricity generated by an eligible customer -generator that\nis fed back to the electric grid over a billing period and priced as prescribed in\nKRS 278.466; and\n(b) Dollar value of all electricity consumed by the eligible customer -generator\nover the same billing period and priced using the applicable tariff of the retail\nelectric supplier.","path":["KRS Chapter 278"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49545","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:30Z","sha256":"7179d3f2b07b3e80a12138c7a2562e0b1d455e9dff9789c5d1a132b26d73c412","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-278.460","next":"us-ky/krs-278.466"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
