{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-278.504","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 278.504","heading":"Definitions for KRS 278.505 to 278.507.","body":"As used in KRS 278.505 to 278.507, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Intrastate pipeline\" means any utility or any other person engaged in natural gas\ntransportation in intrastate commerce, for compensation, to or for another person or\nto or for the public, but shall not include any part of any pipeline dedicated to\nstorage or gathering or low pressure distribution of natural gas;\n(2) \"Interstate pipeline\" means any person engaged in natural gas transportation subject\nto the jurisdiction of the Fe deral Energy Regulatory Commission under the Natural\nGas Act or the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978;\n(3) \"Local distribution company\" means any utility or any other person, other than an\ninterstate pipeline or an intrastate pipeline, engaged in transportati on or local\ndistribution of natural gas and the sale of natural gas for ultimate consumption, but\nshall not include any part of any pipeline primarily used for storage or gathering or\nlow pressure distribution of natural gas;\n(4) \"Intrastate commerce\" incl udes the production, gathering, treatment, processing,\ntransportation and delivery of natural gas entirely within the Commonwealth which\nis not subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission\nunder the Natural Gas Act or the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978;\n(5) \"Transportation\" includes exchange, backhaul, displacement or other means of\ntransportation; and\n(6) \"Person\" includes natural persons, partnerships, corporations, and two (2) or more\npersons having a joint or common interest.","path":["KRS Chapter 278"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14134","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:30Z","sha256":"bb927abfd25cf3a9c58f1c9e54419f89465f0d8d688b8c1a08319d878a23f167","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-278.502","next":"us-ky/krs-278.505"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
