{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-278.507","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 278.507","heading":"Public Service Commission's policy to facilitate greater use of natural gas","body":"produced in Kentucky -- Commission's duties and prohibited activities.\n(1) It shall be the policy of the Public Service Commission to facilitate greater\nutilization of the nat ural gas produced or available for production within the state,\nwhere this can be done without detriment to the customers of utilities under\njurisdiction of the commission.\n(2) This policy may be implemented by requiring the transportation of natural gas i n\nintrastate commerce for persons who own or have purchased gas, as provided in\nKRS 278.505.\n(3) The commission shall maintain at its offices for public inspection all rates and\ncharges for natural gas transportation which are filed with the commission, an d\ncopies of federal or state rules which govern transportation of natural gas.\n(4) The commission may implement this policy by gathering and maintaining, for\npublic inspection, various information concerning natural gas markets.  Such\ninformation may include, but not by way of limitation:\n(a) Lists of producers of undedicated natural gas, together with such descriptions\nof available quantity, location or price as may be available to the commission;\n(b) Lists of persons seeking a supply of natural gas, toget her with such\ndescriptions as may be available to the commission;\n(c) Sources of legal or technical expertise in natural gas procurement or\nmarketing, which may be available to the commission;\n(d) Transportation contracts filed with the commission, except to the extent that\nthe parties to such contracts have requested that portions of these contracts be\ntreated as confidential.\n(5) The commission may adopt or develop model contracts or forms if it determines\nthat such models would simplify negotiations betw een parties in the direct sale of\nnatural gas.\n(6) The commission shall not implement this policy by engaging directly in the\nprocurement or marketing of natural gas as an agent of any person.\n(7) The commission shall not regulate contracts between produce rs and purchasers of\nnatural gas except to the extent that any party or parties to the contract are otherwise\nsubject to commission regulation and commission review of contracts under this\nchapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 278"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14137","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:30Z","sha256":"882d4082ea57e213deb114af3cacbbb76e1a41eb82801fbf5a70302ffa0998a7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-278.506","next":"us-ky/krs-278.508"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
