{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-27a.020","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 27A.020","heading":"Chief Justice -- Delegation of functions.","body":"The Chief Justice in his sole discretion may delegate the following functions to the\nadministrative director of the courts or to his administrative assistants:\n(1) Perform administrative services for the Court of Justice and supervise its clerical\nand administrative personnel, and its accommodations;\n(2) Act as fiscal officer of the Court of Justice and in so doing shall:\n(a) Maintain fiscal controls and accounts of funds appropriated for the Court of\nJustice;\n(b) Review and audit expense vouchers of justic es, judges, and employees of the\nCourt of Justice. Upon approval, the Chief Justice shall submit the vouchers to\nthe Finance and Administration Cabinet, which shall certify the same to the\nState Treasurer for payment;\n(c) Prepare all requisitions for the p ayment of state moneys appropriated for the\nmaintenance and operation of the Court of Justice;\n(d) Prepare budget estimates of state appropriations necessary for the maintenance\nand operation of the Court of Justice and make recommendations in respect\nthereto;\n(e) Collect statistical and other data and make report to the Supreme Court\nrelating to the expenditure of public moneys for the maintenance and\noperation of the Court of Justice and the offices connected therewith;\n(3) Ascertain the necessity for ass ignment of justices and judges as contemplated by\nSection 110(5)(b) of the Constitution, make reports concerning their performance of\nduties and certify the compensation payable to them;\n(4) Carry on a continuous survey and study of the organization, opera tion, condition of\nbusiness, practice and procedure of the Court of Justice;\n(5) Collect and compile statistical and other data concerning the operations of the\ncourts, and to this end may require all necessary reports from the courts and clerks\nthereof of this Commonwealth relating to rules, dockets, and business dispatched or\npending in such courts;\n(6) Formulate and submit to the Supreme Court recommendations of policies for the\nimprovement of the Court of Justice;\n(7) Provide for educational programs for the members of the Court of Justice;\n(8) Report to the General Assembly concerning the work of the Court of Justice and\nmake such recommendations for the improvement of administration of justice as\ndeemed necessary and proper;\n(9) Supervise, operate, and administer all pretrial release programs and personnel which\ncome within the purview of the Court of Justice, or which are related thereto;\n(10) Perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Chief Justice.","path":["KRS Chapter 27A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20935","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:47Z","sha256":"b5272ec0cc3bd0861889cb3a9d63633710faba8f5b610625f92fd636b51c7b71","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-27a.015","next":"us-ky/krs-27a.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
