{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-27a.090","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 27A.090","heading":"Criminal records check performed for Justice and Public Safety Cabinet -","body":"- Fee -- Request conditions.\n(1) In any instance that the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet is required by statute to\nconduct a criminal records or background check, the Justice a nd Public Safety\nCabinet may contract with the Administrative Office of the Courts to perform that\nservice.\n(2) (a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this subsection, the Administrative\nOffice of the Courts shall set a reasonable fee for a criminal re cords check\nconducted by the office in an amount no greater than the actual cost of\nconducting that criminal records check.\n(b) When another statute sets the dollar amount of the fee charged for a criminal\nrecords check conducted by the Administrative Office of the Courts, the office\nshall charge that fee.\n(3) The Administrative Office of the Courts shall be required to accept a criminal\nrecords check request only when the request is made:\n(a) By letter, electronic mail, or facsimile transmission; or\n(b) In person.\n(4) The Administrative Office of the Courts may establish an escrow account for a\nperson who frequently requests that the office conduct criminal records checks.","path":["KRS Chapter 27A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=20940","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:47Z","sha256":"22e13e1767f27cf076625201e444eb2e166c577403c44ac36d80c3e2dc152920","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-27a.080","next":"us-ky/krs-27a.092"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
