{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-280.990","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 280.990","heading":"Penalties.","body":"(1) Any person who violates any of the provisions of subsection (3) of KRS 280.250 or\nany of the provisions of KRS 280.260 shall, for the first offense, forfeit twenty -five\ndollars ($25) to the person aggrieved, and shall, for every subsequent offense,\nforfeit one hundred dollars ($100) to the person aggrieved, but the person aggrieved\nshall not recover the forfeiture after a prosecution has been instituted under\nsubsection (2) of this section. The forfeiture may be recovered by the person\naggrieved by ordinary action in any court having jurisdiction to render judgment for\nthe sum claimed to be forfeited, and the judgment may be enforced by execution\nagainst the property or against the person, at the election of the plaintiff.\n(2) Any person who violates any of the provisions of subsection (3) of KRS 280.250 or\nany of the provisions of KRS 280.260 shall be liable to a fine of fifty dollars ($50)\nfor the first offense and one hundred dollars ($100) for each subsequent offense, but\nno conviction shall be had under this subsection in any case where the person\naggrieved has sued for and recovered the forfeiture prescribed in subsection (1) of\nthis section.\n(3) Any person who violates any of the provisions of KRS 280.270 shall be fined\ntwenty dollars ($20) for each day that the violation continues.\n(4) Any person who violates any of the provisions of KRS 280.280 shall be fined not\nless than five dollars ($5) nor more than ten dollars ($10) for each day that the\nviolation continues.","path":["KRS Chapter 280"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14271","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:32Z","sha256":"3b927fd9e6641404b58d4071bdd4efa6e7be3e9dd1010b415abf4ee2c71c2728","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-280.330","next":"us-ky/krs-281.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
