{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-281.764","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 281.764","heading":"Operation of platoon of commercial motor vehicles -- Administrative","body":"regulations.\n(1) A motor carrier may operate a platoon on the highways of this state if the motor\ncarrier complies with this section.\n(2) Motor carriers wishing to op erate a platoon shall provide notification to the\ndepartment and the Kentucky State Police, including a plan for general platoon\noperations. The department shall have thirty (30) days from the date of receipt to\nreview the notification plan submitted and d etermine whether it will approve or\nreject the plan. If the department rejects a submitted plan, it shall inform the motor\ncarrier of the reason for the rejection and provide guidance on how to resubmit the\nnotification and plan to meet the standards.\n(3) Only commercial motor vehicles shall be eligible to operate in a platoon.\n(4) An appropriately endorsed driver who holds a valid commercial driver's license\nshall be present behind the wheel of the lead commercial motor vehicle in a\nplatoon.\n(5) A commercial motor vehicle involved in a platoon shall not draw another motor\nvehicle in the platoon.\n(6) Each commercial motor vehicle involved in a platoon shall display a marking\nwarning other motorists and law enforcement that the vehicle may be part of a\nplatoon.\n(7) The department shall promulgate administrative regulations in accordance with\nKRS Chapter 13A to set forth procedures for platooning, including required\nelements of a platooning plan.","path":["KRS Chapter 281"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55850","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:34Z","sha256":"e9f0e0443852a8dba4d9a51876c7be278d4eb6a60f7eb942d4a2b7f7edd59661","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-281.763","next":"us-ky/krs-281.765"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
