{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-281.838","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 281.838","heading":"Temporary permit for nonresident not covered by reciprocal agreement.","body":"Any person who is a nonresident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and who operates\nany motor vehicle as defined in KRS 281.010 not entitled to exemption from the payment\nof the fees imposed by KRS 186.050 by reason of the terms of a reciprocal agreement\nexisting between the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the state in which such vehicle is\nlicensed, may, in lieu of the payment of the fees imposed by KRS 186.050, obtain from\nthe Department of Vehicle Regulation a temporary permit. Under regulations adopted by\nthe Department of Vehicle Regulation application for such a temporary permit shall be\nmade and such permits shall be issued for a specified period not exceeding ten (10) days,\nand for a specific vehicle. The fee for each permit shall be twenty -five ($25) doll ars for\nany vehicle subject to the fees in KRS 186.050 for a vehicle and any towed unit with a\ndeclared gross weight of fifty-five thousand (55,000) pounds or less; or forty dollars ($40)\nfor any vehicle subject to the fees in KRS 186.050 for a vehicle and any towed unit with a\ndeclared gross weight of fifty-five thousand one (55,001) pounds or more.","path":["KRS Chapter 281"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44179","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:53:34Z","sha256":"3237b80a1611281b07ebe472b42768d57088763c852d5935c710f47176714d36","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-281.836","next":"us-ky/krs-281.840"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
