{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-286.3-193","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 286.3-193","heading":"Hours and days of bank operation.","body":"(1) (a) A bank, or any of its branches or other offices:\n1. May, at its option, either close or remain open for business on any day\nor during any hours of the week if the days of the week and the hours\nduring which an office of the bank will remain open are conspi cuously\nposted in each office; and\n2. Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this subsection, shall not close\nduring any hours or days for which the bank or office has posted that it\nwill be open.\n(b) A bank or office may, because of an emergency or any ot her reason deemed\nsufficient by the bank, close on any day or days, in whole or in part, which it\nwould normally be open for business if the bank or office gives notice in\naccordance with paragraph (c) of this subsection.\n(c) A bank or office shall give th e public five (5) business days' notice of a\nclosing made under paragraph (b) of this subsection by posting a statement to\nthat effect in a conspicuous place in each office of the bank that will be\nclosed, unless the giving of the notice is impractical bec ause of the existence\nof an emergency or other condition.\n(2) (a) Any day on which a bank is closed pursuant to the provisions of this section\nshall not be a banking day of the bank within the meaning of KRS Chapter\n355 or any other law, and no bank shall be required to permit access to its safe\ndeposit vaults on that day.\n(b) When a contract by its terms requires the payment of money or the\nperformance of a condition by or at the bank on a day when the bank is\nclosed, the payment shall be made or condition  performed on the next\nbusiness day succeeding the day when the bank was closed.\n(c) Any payment made in accordance with paragraph (b) of this s ubsection shall\nbe deemed made and the condition performed with the same force and effect\nas if made in accordance with the terms of the contract, and no liability or loss\nof rights shall result from the delay.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55156","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:10Z","sha256":"d0e5c328fa5410ee2eada82939dd1c77561098b15603a5637cca7c22405292c2","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-286.3-190","next":"us-ky/krs-286.3-199"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
