{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-286.6-585","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 286.6-585","heading":"Investments.","body":"Funds not used in loans to members may be invested:\n(1) In securities, obligations, or other instruments of or issued by or fully guaranteed as\nto principal and interest by the United States of America or any agency thereof or in\nany trust or trusts established for investing directly or collectively in the same;\n(2) In obligations of any state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the\nCommonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the several territories organized by Congress,\nor any political subdivision thereof;\n(3) In certificates of deposit or passbook -type accounts issued by a state or national\nbank, mutual savings bank, or savings and loan association;\n(4) (a) In loans, not to exceed twenty -five percent (25%) of capital at the lending\ncredit union, to; or\n(b) In shares or deposits, not to exceed twenty percent (20%) of the capital of the\ninvesting credit union, of other credit unions, central credit unions, corporate\ncredit unions, or a central liquidity facility established under state or federal\nlaw;\n(5) In shares, stocks, loans, or other obligations of any or ganization, corporation, or\nassociation, provided the membership or ownership, as the case may be, of the\norganization, corporation, or association is primarily confined or restricted to credit\nunions, or organizations of credit unions, and provided furthe r the purpose for\nwhich it is organized is to strengthen or advance the development of credit unions\nor credit union organizations;\n(6) In shares of a cooperative society organized under the laws of this state or of the\nlaws of the United States in the total amount not exceeding ten percent (10%) of the\nshares, deposits, and surplus of the credit union;\n(7) In stocks and bonds of corporations organized in any state of the United States, the\nDistrict of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the sever al territories\norganized by Congress to an aggregate maximum of five percent (5%) of members'\nshares in stocks and an aggregate maximum of five percent (5%) of members'\nshares in bonds, provided that investments shall be limited to stocks or bonds which\nappear on a list approved by the commissioner and published quarterly or annually,\nthe list to include not less than thirty (30) corporations.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14818","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:13Z","sha256":"ad35019e3242dddb1ac8746112ce6f9d540acf8f8ea89380d9ba8763ed5df9e1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-286.6-575","next":"us-ky/krs-286.6-595"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
