{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-286.8-070","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 286.8-070","heading":"Company name.","body":"(1) The use of the words \"certified\" or \"licensed\" or any form thereof separately or in\nany combination thereof with other words or syllables, is prohibited as part of the\nname of a mortgage loan company or a mortgage loan broker. No license of a\nproposed mortgage loan company or a mortgage loan broker having the same name\nas a corporation authorized to do business under the laws of this state or a name so\nnearly resembling it as to be calculated to deceive shall be issued by the\ncommissioner.\n(2) No person, un less lawfully authorized to do business in this state under the\nprovisions of this subtitle, and actually engaged in carrying on a mortgage loan or\nloan broker business, shall do business under any name or title which contains the\nterms \"mortgage company,\"  \"mortgage loan company,\" \"mortgage loan broker,\"\n\"loan broker,\" \"financial broker,\" or any combination employing the words\n\"mortgage,\" \"loan,\" or \"broker,\" with one (1) or more of the words \"association,\"\n\"institution,\" \"society,\" \"company,\" \"corporation, \" or words of similar import, or\nuse any name or represent in any manner which indicates or reasonably implies that\nhis or its business is that of a mortgage loan company or mortgage loan broker as\ndefined by KRS 286.8-010.\n(3) A mortgage loan company or mortgage loan broker required to have a license under\nthis subtitle shall not use the words \"bank,\" \"trust,\" \"national,\" or \"federal,\" or any\nform thereof separately or in combination thereof with other words or syllables as a\npart of its name or to otherwise identify itself.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14864","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:14Z","sha256":"8a85398314d69a38bd5ebc5387886cb9192531a3dd15bb599a782fb96af599d4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-286.8-060","next":"us-ky/krs-286.8-075"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
