{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-286.8-180","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 286.8-180","heading":"Conduct of examination -- Cost of investigation or hearing.","body":"(1) In the conduct of any examination, investigation, or hearing, the commissioner or an\nofficer designated by the commissioner may compel the attendance of any person or\nobtain any documents by subpoenas; administer oaths or affirmations in the\nexamination of  the directors, officers, agents, employees of any mortgage loan\ncompany, or mortgage loan broker or any other person concerning the business and\nconduct of affairs or any person subject to the provisions of this subtitle, and in\nconnection therewith may require and compel the production of any books, records,\npapers, or other documents relevant to the inquiry.\n(2) In the contumacy by, or refusal to obey a subpoena issued to, any person, Franklin\nCircuit Court, upon application by the commissioner, may issu e to the person an\norder requiring him or her to appear before the commissioner, or the officer\ndesignated by the commissioner, there to produce documentary evidence if so\nordered or to give evidence touching the matter under investigation or in question.\nFailure to obey the order of the court may be punished by the court as a contempt of\ncourt.\n(3) The cost of any investigation or hearing conducted under KRS 286.8 -190 may be\nassessed to and collected from the mortgage loan company or mortgage loan broker\nin question by the commissioner.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14878","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:14Z","sha256":"a688e4f8bc63d25639b668c31fbe211ff2ada36726c6ce431f5dba7165985258","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-286.8-175","next":"us-ky/krs-286.8-190"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
