{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-286.8-260","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 286.8-260","heading":"Continuing professional education required for persons registered under","body":"subtitle -- Termination and surrender of registration for failure to comply.\n(1) (a) Any person required to be registered under this subtitle shall complete at least\neight (8) hours of continuing professional education on an annual basis that is\napproved and designated by the commissioner.\n(b) A minimum of one (1) hour of continuing professional education each year\nshall be instruction on the requirements of this subti tle, KRS 360.100, or a\ncombination of both.\n(2) For the purposes of subsection (1) of this section:\n(a) The continuing professional education courses approved and designated by the\ncommissioner shall:\n1. Meet the minimum requirements set forth in Section 1 505(b) of the\nS.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act, 12 U.S.C. sec. 5104(b), and\namendments thereto; and\n2. Unless the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System and Registry\nprovides otherwise, be reviewed and approved by the Nationwide\nMultistate Licensing System and Registry; and\n(b) The commissioner may accept as credit towards the completion of the\ncontinuing professional education requirements in this state, the completion of\ncontinuing professional education requirements in any other state so long as\nthe educa tion has met the requirements set forth in this subsection and\nsubsection (1) of this section.\n(3) (a) For good cause shown, the commissioner may grant an extension during\nwhich the continuing professional education requirements of this section may\nbe completed, but the extension may not exceed thirty (30) days.\n(b) What constitutes good cause for the extension of time rests within the\ndiscretion of the commissioner.\n(4) The registration of any mortgage loan originator that fails to comply with the\ncontinuing professional education requirements of this section and who has not\nbeen granted an extension of time to comply in accordance with subsection (3) of\nthis section shall:\n(a) Expire; and\n(b) Promptly be deemed surrendered to the commissioner without demand.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52859","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:14Z","sha256":"d1662fe4ef3fad9c983edf74b3738518a5c49a8519d4fa348ad31e89aad7ec60","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-286.8-256","next":"us-ky/krs-286.8-270"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
