{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-286.9-074","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 286.9-074","heading":"Recordkeeping requirements of licensees.","body":"(1) Each licensee shall keep and use in its business any books, accounts, financial\nreports, and records the commissioner may require to administer and regulate the\nprovisions of this subtitle and the administrative regulations promulgated under this\nsubtitle. Every licensee shall preserve the books, accounts, financial reports, and\nrecords for a minimum of three (3) years, unless applicable state or federal law\nrequires a longer retention period.\n(2) Records required to be preserved under this section may be m aintained in an\nelectronic retrievable format, or other similar form of medium, provided that it is\nreadily accessible to examination, investigation, and inspection by the\ncommissioner.\n(3) Any person who ceases operating a business licensed under this sub title shall, at\nleast thirty (30) days prior to the discontinuance of the business, notify the\ncommissioner in writing of the physical location where the records required to be\nkept under this subtitle will be preserved or archived. The records shall be ma de\naccessible to the commissioner upon five (5) business days' written notice.\n(4) Any person who ceases operating as a business licensed under this subtitle shall\ndesignate a custodian of records and notify the commissioner of the name, physical\naddress, electronic mail address, and telephone number of the custodian of records.\nThe custodian of records shall preserve all records required under this subtitle and\nallow the commissioner access to the records for examination and investigation\nupon demand.\n(5) The commissioner may approve a written request for the destruction of records\nrequired to be preserved under this subtitle prior to the minimum retention period\ndescribed in subsection (1) of this section.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=14909","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:14Z","sha256":"a08faac5f122ef639ffbd7f8993ab4ca8327898ad2f93d593e468c0f9edbd59a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-286.9-073","next":"us-ky/krs-286.9-075"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
