{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-292.6508","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 292.6508","heading":"Protection of registering entity.","body":"(1) A registering entity is not required to offer or to accept a request for security\nregistration in beneficiary form. If a registration in beneficiary form is offered by a\nregistering entity, the owner requesting registration in beneficiary form assents to\nthe protections given to the registering entity by KRS 292.6501 to 292.6512.\n(2) By accepting a request for registration of a security in beneficiary form, the\nregistering entity agrees that the registration will be implemented on death of the\ndeceased owner as provided in KRS 292.6501 to 292.6512.\n(3) A registering entity is discharged from all claims to a security by the estate,\ncreditors, heirs, or devisees of a deceased owner if it registers a transfer of the\nsecurity in accordance with KRS 292.6507 and does so in good faith reliance:\n(a) On the registration;\n(b) On KRS 292.6501 to 292.6512; and\n(c) On information provided to it by affidavit of the personal representative of the\ndeceased owner, or by the surviving beneficiary or by the surviving\nbeneficiary's representatives, or other information available to the registering\nentity.\nThe protections of KRS 292.6501 to 292.6512 do not extend to a reregistration or\npayment made after a registering entity has received written notice from any\nclaimant to any interest in the security objecting to implementation of a registration\nin beneficiary form. No other notice or other information available to the registering\nentity affects its right to protection under KRS 292.6501 to 292.6512.\n(4) The protection provided by KRS 292.6501 to 292.6512 to the registering entity of a\nsecurity does not affect the rights of the beneficiaries in disputes between\nthemselves and other claimants to ownership of the security transferred or its value\nor proceeds.","path":["KRS Chapter 292"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=15587","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:23Z","sha256":"cd4772bc4257e3904a98a0a420d3904569ef9705b5ab12e72773060e997d9b6d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-292.6507","next":"us-ky/krs-292.6509"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
