{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-29a.210","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 29A.210","heading":"Summoning and convening of regular grand juries -- Sessions.","body":"(1) A regular grand jury shall be summoned upon the order of the Chief Circuit Judge.\nThe grand jury shall be convened at least once every four (4) months at such time as\nmay be designated by the Circuit Court. The court may require the grand jury to\nconvene more often if the ends of justice or the needs of the county so require. The\ncourt may require the grand jury to convene if the Commonwealth's or county\nattorney certifies to the court that there are defendants who have been bound over to\nthe grand jury and that there is a need for the grand jury to consider the return of any\nindictments.\n(2) The Chief Justice may authorize any chief circuit judge to impanel an additional\nregular grand jury upon a showing that a single grand jury cannot handle the volume\nof business before the court.\n(3) A regular grand jury shall remain in session until discharged by the court but shall\nnot remain in session longer than twenty (20) days of actual court attendance except\nwhen necessary to complete work on a single case in whi ch testimony has already\nbeen taken.","path":["KRS Chapter 29A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=21138","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:49Z","sha256":"a7d4dad6eba46b8451fb883063f7a9897ff01959ad80dc7edc2e445eaab92a52","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-29a.200","next":"us-ky/krs-29a.215"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
