{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.14-500","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.14-500","heading":"Definitions for KRS 304.14-510 to 304.14-550.","body":"For the purpose of KRS 304.14-510 to 304.14-550:\n(1) \"Applicant\" means:\n(a) In the case of an individual Medicare supplement policy or subscriber\ncontract, the person who seeks to contract for insurance benefits; and\n(b) In the case of a group Medicare sup plement policy or subscriber contract, the\nproposed certificate holder.\n(2) \"Certificate\" means, for the purposes of KRS 304.14 -510 to 304.14 -550, any\ncertificate issued under a group Medicare supplement policy, which policy has been\ndelivered or issued for delivery in this state.\n(3) \"Medicare supplement policy\" means a group or individual policy of (accident and\nsickness) insurance or a subscriber contract (of hospital and medical service\nassociations or health maintenance organizations) other than a poli cy issued\npursuant to a contract under Section 1876 of the Federal Social Security Act (42\nU.S.C. secs. 1395 et seq.) or an issued policy under a demonstration project\nspecified in 42 U.S.C. sec. 1395ss(g)(1), which is advertised, marketed, or designed\nprimarily as a supplement to reimbursements under Medicare for the hospital,\nmedical, or surgical expenses of persons eligible for Medicare. Such policy does not\ninclude:\n(a) Medicare Advantage plans established under Medicare Part C;\n(b) Prescription drug plans established under Medicare Part D; or\n(c) Health care prepayment plans that provide benefits pursuant to an agreement\nunder 42 U.S.C. sec. 1395l(a)(1)(A).\n(4) \"Medicare\" means the \"Health Insurance for the Aged Act,\" Title XVIII of the\nSocial Security Amendments of 1965, as then constituted or later amended.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17167","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:43Z","sha256":"8e35fc5a2f9d2f6dc3f4ec0631cf6dd523545a80825cb0e8d27a86c23c1c4625","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.14-450","next":"us-ky/krs-304.14-510"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
