{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.16-050","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.16-050","heading":"Labor union groups.","body":"The lives of a group of individuals may be insured under a policy issued to a labor union,\nwhich shall be deemed the policyholder, to insure members of such union for the benefit\nof persons other than the union or any of its officials, representatives or a gents, subject to\nthe following requirements:\n(1) The members eligible for insurance under the policy shall be all of the members of\nthe union, or all of any class or classes thereof determined by conditions pertaining\nto their employment, or to membership  in the union, or both. The policy may\nprovide that the term \"member\" shall include retired members;\n(2) The premium for the policy shall be paid by the policyholder from the union's\nfunds, from funds contributed by the insured members specifically for the ir\ninsurance, or from both. A policy may be issued on which the entire premium is to\nbe derived from funds contributed by the insured members specifically for their\ninsurance;\n(3) A policy on which no part of the premium is to be derived from funds contrib uted\nby the insured members specifically for their insurance must insure all eligible\nmembers with the following exceptions:\n(a) An insurer may exclude or limit the coverage on any person for whom\nevidence of individual insurability is not satisfactory to the insurer; and\n(b) Those that reject the coverage in writing;\n(4) The amounts of insurance under the policy shall be based upon some plan\nprecluding individual selection either by the members or by the union;\n(5) Nothing contained in this section shall r equire the termination of insurance for, or\nprohibit the contribution of all required premium by, an otherwise insured member\nwho involuntarily becomes temporarily unemployed.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17266","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:45Z","sha256":"c1e843bb00a4e9856852e81f18013866cc01c8e99ced5bb16aa59d2736c7b4a6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.16-040","next":"us-ky/krs-304.16-060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
