{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.17-305","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.17-305","heading":"Indemnity payable for services performed by optometrists, osteopaths,","body":"physicians, chiropractors, or podiatrists.\n(1) When any policy of health insurance issued in this state provides for reimbursement\nfor any service which is within the lawful scop e of practice of an optometrist duly\nlicensed as provided in KRS Chapter 320, the insured or other person entitled to\nbenefits under such policy shall be entitled to reimbursement for such services,\nwhether such services are performed by a duly licensed ph ysician, osteopath, or\noptometrist, notwithstanding any provision contained in such policy, or if the policy\nso provides, payment may be made directly to the provider of the services.\n(2) When any policy of health insurance issued in this state provides for reimbursement\nfor any service which is within the lawful scope of practice of a chiropractor duly\nlicensed under KRS Chapter 312, the insured or other person entitled to benefits\nunder such policy shall be entitled to reimbursement for such services, whether such\nservices are performed by a duly licensed physician, osteopath or chiropractor,\nnotwithstanding any provision contained in such policy; or if the policy so provides,\npayment may be made directly to the provider of the services.\n(3) When any policy of health insurance issued in this state provides for reimbursement\nfor any service which is within the lawful scope of practice of a podiatrist duly\nlicensed under KRS Chapter 311, the insured or other person entitled to benefits\nunder that policy shall  be entitled to reimbursement for those services, whether\nthose services are performed by a duly licensed physician, osteopath, chiropractor,\nor podiatrist, notwithstanding any provision contained in the policy, or if the policy\nso provides, payment may be made directly to the provider of the services.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17319","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:45Z","sha256":"f17224fd6954cc908cd389357d04834a8de6047e273afacbe8aef9c3b67fc4eb","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.17-300","next":"us-ky/krs-304.17-310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
