{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.17a-144","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.17A-144","heading":"Liaison for autism spectrum disorders treatment benefits.","body":"(1) An insurer offering a health benefit plan that provides benefits for the treatment of\nautism spectrum disorders shall make available to members a liaison to facilitate\ncommunication between the member and the insurer.\n(2) The responsibilities of the liaison shall include but not be limited to:\n(a) Explaining to the member the benefits for the treatment of autism under the\nmember's health benefit plan and the specific process to access those benefits;\n(b) Explaining to the member the process for prior author ization of treatment,\nincluding communicating specific documentation needed from the member or\nprovider for the insurer to consider the request;\n(c) Monitoring the adjudication of the member's claims for the treatment of\nautism services;\n(d) Explaining to the member the proper coding to use when submitting claims\nfor applied behavioral analysis therapy and any supporting documentation\nrequired to be attached to the claim;\n(e) Explaining to the member, upon request, how claims for the treatment of\nautism services were adjudicated, including the application of any deductibles,\ncopayments, coinsurance, and benefit limitations; and\n(f) Explaining to the member, upon request, any appeal rights the member may\nhave regarding coverage for the treatment of autism tha t has been denied or\nlimited.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45233","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:46Z","sha256":"5c2cbef53d4247b5fc1a4c01405d15ae9d01dcafc1db3c20a4d820c17ca43271","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.17a-143","next":"us-ky/krs-304.17a-145"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
