{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.17a-173","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.17A-173","heading":"Reimbursement for services within scope of practice of optometrists --","body":"Terms and conditions.\n(1) Any insurer issuing or renewing a health benefit plan issued or renewed on or after\nJuly 12, 2006, which provides coverage for services rendered by a physici an or\nosteopath duly licensed under KRS Chapter 311 that are within the scope of practice\nof an optometrist duly licensed under the provisions of KRS Chapter 320 shall\nprovide the same reimbursement for services to optometrists as allowed for those\nservices rendered by physicians or osteopaths.\n(2) An insurer shall not require an optometrist to meet terms and conditions that are not\nrequired of a physician or osteopath as a condition for participation in its provider\nnetwork for the provision of services th at are within the scope of practice of an\noptometrist.\n(3) The provisions of subsections (1) and (2) of this section shall also apply to any\nagreements an insurer enters into to provide services covered under the health\nbenefit plan.\n(4) An insurer shall n ot require an optometrist, physician, or osteopath to contract with\na vision care plan licensed under Subtitle 17C of KRS Chapter 304 as a condition\nfor participation in the health care network of the insurer to provide covered\nmedical services to its enrollees.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44517","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:46Z","sha256":"1aaeaf67ddb5c0154a45cd8c92c98ffd1427e2d113479bddb119e3ed93e086e4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.17a-172","next":"us-ky/krs-304.17a-175"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
