{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.17c-130","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.17C-130","heading":"Definitions for KRS 304.17C-130 to 304.17C-138.","body":"As used in KRS 304.17C-130 to 304.17C-138:\n(1) \"Covered person\" means an individual who is covered by a dental benefit plan;\n(2) \"Dental benefit plan\" means a limited health service benefit plan that provides\ncoverage for dental services;\n(3) \"Dental carrier\" means a health insurer that provides coverage for dental services;\n(4) \"Dental services\":\n(a) Means services for the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, or cure of a dental\ncondition, illness, injury, or disease; and\n(b) Does not include services deliver ed by a provider that are billed as medical\nexpenses under a health insurance plan;\n(5) \"Dentist\" means any dentist licensed or otherwise authorized in this state to furnish\ndental services;\n(6) \"Health insurer\" means any insurance company, health maintena nce organization,\nself-insurer or multiple employer welfare arrangement not exempt from state\nregulation by ERISA, provider -sponsored integrated health delivery network, self -\ninsured employer -organized association, nonprofit hospital, medical -surgical,\ndental, and health service corporation, or limited health service organization\nauthorized to transact health insurance business in Kentucky; and\n(7) \"Provider\":\n(a) Means an individual or entity, acting within the scope of the individual or\nentity's licensure  or certification, that provides dental services or supplies\ndefined by the dental benefit plan; and\n(b) Does not include a physician organization or physician hospital organization\nthat leases or rents its network to a third party.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52588","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:49Z","sha256":"77a2534d8f24c56de9042ee330182940c774f9ad980ef28a62c43c4b868a530e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.17c-125","next":"us-ky/krs-304.17c-132"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
