{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.18-032","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.18-032","heading":"Coverage for newly born children from moment of birth.","body":"(1) All group or blanket health insurance policies and certificates issued thereunder\nproviding coverage on an expense incurred basis, regardless of whether the policies\nand certificates are issued for nonfamily or family coverage, shall, provide that\nhealth insurance benefits shall be payable with respect to a newly born child of the\ninsured or certificate holder from the moment of birth.\n(2) The coverage for newly born children shall consist of coverage of injury or sickness\nincluding the necessary care and t reatment of medically diagnosed congenital\ndefects and birth abnormalities.\n(3) If payment of a specific premium or fee is required to provide coverage for a child,\nthe policy or contract may require that notification of birth of a newly born child\nand pay ment of the required premium or fees must be furnished to the insurer\nwithin thirty -one (31) days after the date of birth in order to have the coverage\ncontinue beyond such thirty-one (31) day period.\n(4) The requirements of this section shall apply to all insurance policies, and certificates\nissued thereunder, delivered or issued for delivery in this state on and after July 15,\n1994.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29420","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:49Z","sha256":"f577d03807c9a76a1dc08db11446d1a40de06f9667fa72133925074176755f2f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.18-030","next":"us-ky/krs-304.18-033"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
