{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.20-042","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.20-042","heading":"Termination or refusal to issue insurance due to credit history","body":"prohibited.\n(1) No insurer shall decline to issue, cancel, nonrenew, or otherwise terminate property\nand casualty insurance contracts covering personal risks solely because of credit\nhistory, lack of credit history, or the following extraordinary life circumstances that\ndirectly influence the credit history of the applicant or insured:\n(a) Catastrophic event, as declared by the federal or state government;\n(b) Serious illness or injur y, or serious illness or injury to an immediate family\nmember;\n(c) Death of a spouse, child, or parent;\n(d) Divorce or involuntary interruption of legally owed alimony or support\npayments;\n(e) Identity theft;\n(f) Temporary loss of employment for a period o f three (3) months or more, if it\nresults from involuntary termination;\n(g) Military deployment overseas; or\n(h) Other events, as determined by the insurer.\n(2) For purposes of this section, \"personal risks\" shall have the meaning as defined in\nKRS 304.13-011.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40553","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:50Z","sha256":"bdd529f0b3cdf83871c392a6ef7d253e7c862bad18e4b61de18b7edc529bb51b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.20-0411","next":"us-ky/krs-304.20-043"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
