{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.27-170","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.27-170","heading":"Who may be subscribers.","body":"(1) Individuals, partnerships and corporations of this state may make application, enter\ninto an agreement for, and hold policies or contracts in or with, and be a subscriber\nof any domestic, foreign or alien reciprocal insurer. Any corporation organized\nunder the laws of this state shall, in addition to the rights, powers and franchises\nspecified in its articles of incorporation, have full power and authority as a\nsubscriber to exchange insurance contracts through such reciprocal insurer. The\nright to exchange such contracts is hereby declared to be incidental to the purposes\nfor which such corporations are organized and to be as fully granted as the rights\nand powers expressly conferred upon such corporations.\n(2) Government or governmental agencies, a state or political subdivisions thereof,\nboards, associations, estates, trustees or fiduciaries are authorized to exchange\nnonassessable reciprocal interinsurance contracts with each other and with\nindividuals, partnerships and corporations to the same extent th at individuals,\npartnerships and corporations are authorized in this subtitle to exchange reciprocal\ninterinsurance contracts.\n(3) Any officer, representative, trustee, receiver or legal representative of any such\nsubscriber shall be recognized as acting for or on its behalf for the purpose of such\ncontracts but shall not be personally liable upon such contracts by reason of acting\nin such representative capacity.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29625","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:52Z","sha256":"ac24d1d96813e61515b8b1d752634d8f61c38bd8f53b2479a5a15f736bb092b4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.27-160","next":"us-ky/krs-304.27-180"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
