{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.32-153","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.32-153","heading":"Coverage for newly born children from moment of birth.","body":"(1) All individual or group service or indemnity type contracts and all certificates\nthereunder issued by a nonprofit corporation regardless of whether the contracts and\ncertificates are issued for nonfamily or family coverage shall, provide that health\ninsurance benefits shall be payable with respect to a newly born child of the\nmember or subscriber from the moment of birth.\n(2) The coverage for newly born children shall consist of coverage of injury or sickness\nincluding the necessary care and treatment of me dically diagnosed congenital\ndefects and birth abnormalities.\n(3) If payment of a specific premium or fee is required to provide coverage for a child,\nthe policy or contract may require that notification of birth of a newly born child\nand payment of the re quired premium or fees must be furnished to the nonprofit\nservice or indemnity corporation within thirty-one (31) days after the date of birth in\norder to have the coverage continue beyond such thirty-one (31) day period.\n(4) The requirements of this secti on shall apply to all member or subscriber contracts,\nand all certificates thereunder, delivered or issued for delivery in this state on and\nafter July 15, 1994.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29780","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:54Z","sha256":"fa0598b73a13b85edd92b79fa20accfa8ba7b07eecb3c83c557e57b5e84cfca6","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.32-152","next":"us-ky/krs-304.32-154"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
