{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.32-165","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.32-165","heading":"Coverage for treatment for mental illness.","body":"(1) For purposes of this section, \"mental illness\" means psychosis, neurosis or an\nemotional disorder.\n(2) Any offer to sell a policy or contract of general health insurance to be issued,\ndelivered, issued for delivery, amended or renewed by a nonprofit hospital, medical-\nsurgical, or health service corporation after January 1, 1987, shall include an offer\nof coverage for the inpatient and outpatient treatment of mental illness, at least to\nthe same extent and degree as coverage provided by the policy or contrac t for the\ntreatment of physical illnesses.\n(3) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit an insurer from issuing or\ncontinuing to issue a health insurance policy or contract which provides benefits\ngreater than the minimum benefits required by  this section or from issuing such\npolicies or contracts providing benefits which are generally more favorable to the\ninsured than those required by this section.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29793","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:54Z","sha256":"0d0ef9fcedc4f1b7cd53d8db17dd0e019d7cfb35312c645829c7e9616d3ce032","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.32-160","next":"us-ky/krs-304.32-166"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
