{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.38-193","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.38-193","heading":"Coverage for treatment for mental illness.","body":"(1) For purposes of this section, \"mental illness\" means psychosis, neurosis or an\nemotional disorder.\n(2) Any offer to sell a policy of general health insurance or health maintenance\norganization coverage issued, delivered, issued for delivery, amended or renewed by\na health maintenance organization in this state after January 1, 1987, shall include\nan offer of coverage for the inpatient and outpatient treatment of mental illness, at\nleast to the same extent and degree as coverage provided by the policy or con tract\nfor the treatment of physical illnesses.\n(3) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit a health maintenance\norganization from issuing or continuing to issue a health insurance policy or\ncontract which provides benefits greater than the minimum benefits required by this\nsection or from issuing such policies or contracts providing benefits which are\ngenerally more favorable to the insured than those required by this section.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29991","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:56Z","sha256":"fb9392b9e9e7ae0ffeacb723e95e1bd4deb70e9bfad442c95b45547ea3181dae","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.38-192","next":"us-ky/krs-304.38-1933"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
