{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.38-199","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.38-199","heading":"Coverage for newly-born child.","body":"(1) All health maintenance organization contracts issued by health maintenance\norganizations, regardless of whether the contracts are for nonfamily or family\ncoverage, shall provide that health insurance benefits shall be payable with respect\nto a newly-born child of the subscribed from the moment of birth.\n(2) The coverage for newly-born children shall consist of coverage of injury or sickness\nincluding the necessary care and treatment of medically -diagnosed congenital\ndefects and birth abnormalities.\n(3) If payment of a specific premium or fee is required to provide coverage for a child,\nthe policy or contract may require that the notification of birth of a newly-born child\nand payment of the required premium or fees must be furnished to the health\nmaintenance organization within thirty-one (31) days after the date of birth in order\nto have the coverage continued beyond such thirty-one (31) days.\n(4) The requirements of this section shall apply to all contracts delivered or issued for\ndelivery in this state on and after July 15, 1994.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30003","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:56Z","sha256":"408ac2e63057cedea78dd1ba772eb028c78bc54fbc2ff57bf9cf41ae8bd6a74d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.38-198","next":"us-ky/krs-304.38-200"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
