A private passenge r motor vehicle that is not used as a public or livery\nconveyance for passengers, nor rented to others; and\n2. Any other four -wheel motor vehicle that weighs six thousand (6,000)\npounds or less which is not used in the occupation, profession, or\nbusiness of the insured.\n(b) Prior to January 1, 2027, every insurance company that writes liability\ninsurance on personal motor vehicles in Kentucky shall, between the first and\nfifteenth day of each month, send to the Department of Vehicle Regulation a\nlist of the  vehicle identification numbers (VINs) of each personal motor\nvehicle covered by liability insurance issued by the insurer as of the last day\nof the preceding month and the name of each personal motor vehicle\ninsurance policyholder. The information shall b e submitted either\nelectronically or by paper copy at the option of the Department of Vehicle\nRegulation.\n(c) In the absence of malice, fraud, or gross negligence, an insurer and any\nauthorized employee of the insurer shall not be subject to civil liabilit y for\nlibel, slander, or any other relevant tort, and no civil cause of action of any\nnature shall arise against the insurer or authorized employee, for submission\nof the information required by this subsection, including submission of\ninaccurate or incomplete information.\n(2) Every insurer that provides coverage for the security required under KRS 304.39 -\n080 for personal motor vehicles, as defined in KRS 186A.040, shall comply with\nKRS 186A.040.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56147","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:57Z","sha256":"d994c9c055a5a4fc8e9931d50c5664e3c93521b0463372d17266c1808025d04e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.39-085","next":"us-ky/krs-304.39-090"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
