{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.9-320","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.9-320","heading":"Qualifications for license as consultant -- Coverage of consultant license.","body":"For the protection of the people of this Commonwealth the commissioner shall not issue,\ncontinue, or permit to exist any license as consultant except in compliance with th is\nsubtitle, or as to any person not qualified therefor as follows:\n(1) If an individual, the applicant:\n(a) Must be eighteen (18) or more years of age;\n(b) Must have had not less than five (5) years of actual experience as a licensed\nagent with respect to the kinds of insurance and contracts to be covered by the\nlicense;\n(c) Must have a thorough knowledge of insurance and annuity contracts of the\nkinds proposed to be covered under the license;\n(d) Must satisfy the commissioner by written examination; and\n(e) Must be competent, trustworthy under highest fiduciary standards, financially\nresponsible, and of good personal and business reputation.\n(2) If a business entity, the applicant:\n(a) Must complete and submit a National Association of Insurance\nCommissioners uniform license application;\n(b) Must pay applicable fees as set forth in KRS 304.4-010;\n(c) Must be competent, trustworthy under the highest fiduciary standards,\nfinancially responsible, and of good business reputation; and\n(d) Must designate each ind ividual authorized to act for the business entity under\nits consultant license in accordance with KRS 304.9-133.\n(3) A consultant license shall cover either or both of the following categories, as\nselected by the licensee:\n(a) Property and casualty; or\n(b) Life and health.\nA consultant licensed in both categories shall qualify separately for, and be licensed\nin, each category.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40293","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:40Z","sha256":"ae3b5c948c22f5024009ac617d0959fbaab62cdcd5a191c5d5e745467b84dd3b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.9-310","next":"us-ky/krs-304.9-330"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
