{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.9-497","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.9-497","heading":"Required written consumer protection disclosures relating to self -service","body":"storage space insurance.\nSelf-service storage space insurance shall not be transacted under this subtitle at any\nlocation unless the following consumer protection disclosures are made in writing that\nmeets the readability standards set forth in KRS 304.14 -440 and the administrative\nregulations promulgated thereunder prior to the sale of self -service storage space\ninsurance:\n(1) A clear and concise description of the material te rms and conditions of the\ncoverage, including a description of exclusions;\n(2) A description of the process for filing a claim and a toll -free telephone number for\nreporting a claim;\n(3) A statement that the coverage offered by the self -service storage spa ce insurance\nrental agreement may be a duplication of coverage already provided by an\noccupant's other source of property coverage;\n(4) A statement that if insurance is required as a condition of an operator's rental\nagreement with an occupant, the requirement may be satisfied by the customer's:\n(a) Purchase of self -service storage space insurance that is offered or\ndisseminated by the self-storage facility; or\n(b) Presentation to the self -storage facility of evidence of other applicable\ninsurance coverage;\n(5) The name and address of the underwriting insurer;\n(6) A separate itemization of all costs for the self-service storage space insurance;\n(7) Confirmation that the insurer underwriting coverage is authorized to transact\ninsurance in Kentucky; and\n(8) A statement that the self -service storage space insurance is primary coverage over\nany other coverage which may be made available to the occupant covering the same\nloss.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=43253","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:41Z","sha256":"74c5ebe219474e5cdf1cbfec267b6d56b226780c4410d0d3d4548a8254701cde","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.9-496","next":"us-ky/krs-304.9-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
