{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-304.9-509","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 304.9-509","heading":"Consumer protection disclosures to be included with rental vehicle","body":"agreement.\nRental vehicle insurance shall not be transacted under this subtitle at any location unless\nthe following consumer protection disclosures are made in writing that meets th e\nreadability standards set forth in KRS 304.14 -440 and the regulations promulgated\nthereunder prior to the sale of rental vehicle insurance and are included with the rental\nvehicle agreement:\n(1) A clear and concise description of the material terms and c onditions of the\ncoverage, including a description of exclusions;\n(2) A description of the process for filing a claim and a toll -free telephone number for\nreporting a claim;\n(3) A statement that the coverage offered by the rental vehicle agent may be a\nduplication of coverage already provided by the renter's personal automobile\ninsurance policy or by another source of coverage;\n(4) A statement that the renter is not required to purchase any insurance from the rental\nvehicle company in order to rent a vehicl e. However, the rental vehicle company\nmay refuse to rent a vehicle to an uninsured driver;\n(5) The name and address of the underwriting insurer;\n(6) A separate itemization of all costs for the rental vehicle insurance;\n(7) Confirmation that the insurer un derwriting coverage is authorized to transact\ninsurance in Kentucky; and\n(8) A statement that the rental vehicle insurance is primary coverage over any other\ncoverage which may be available to the renter or authorized driver covering the\nsame loss.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=16966","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:57:41Z","sha256":"9688e62197456edad5679097262fee4cb00b8154febdd1b8fa2eedb987d96eb3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-304.9-507","next":"us-ky/krs-304.9-511"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
