{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.0834","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.0834","heading":"Requirements  for certification as certified clinical supervisor --","body":"Supervision authorized.\n(1) An  applicant for certification as a certified clinical supervisor shall pay the\nboard the initial fee for certification, and shall:\n(a) Hold and maintain an alcohol and drug counselor license, clinical alcohol\nand drug counselor license, or alcohol and drug counselor certification at\nthe International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium reciprocal level;\n(b) Meet  all education, continuing education, work  experience, and\nsupervision requirements of the International Certification and Reciprocity\nConsortium for the Clinical Supervisor;\n(c) Have  passed a written examination that has been approved by the\nInternational Certification and Reciprocity Consortium; and\n(d) Have  signed an agreement to abide by the standards of practice and\ncode of ethics approved by the board.\n(2) The board shall promulgate administrative regulations in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A to establish a limited period of time of not less than ninety (90)\ndays or more than one (1) year from April 20, 2022, during which the board\nmay  grant certification as a clinical supervisor to an applicant who does not\nmeet all the requirements of subsection (1) of this section if the applicant:\n(a) Is licensed in Kentucky as a clinical alcohol and drug counselor or\ncertified in Kentucky as an alcohol and drug counselor as of March 24,\n2021; and\n(b) Has board approval to provide clinical supervision as of March 24, 2021.\n(3) An  applicant who has been granted certification by the board in accordance\nwith subsection (2) of this section shall be immediately authorized to provide\nclinical supervision to alcohol and  drug counselors in accordance with\nsubsection (5) of this section and any administrative regulations promulgated\nby the board establishing requirements for clinical supervision.\n(4) After the expiration of the time period established by the board under\nsubsection (2) of this section, an applicant for certification as a clinical\nsupervisor shall meet the requirements in subsection (1) of this section in\naccordance  with any administrative regulations promulgated by the board\nestablishing requirements for certification.\n(5) A certified clinical supervisor may supervise registered alcohol and drug peer\nsupport specialists, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, licensed clinical\nalcohol and drug counselors, certified alcohol and drug counselors, and\npersons who are seeking registration or certification.","path":["KRS Chapter 309"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=52291","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:01Z","sha256":"487a4aa02c71d1756f74d30ae528b22d36a650d5bbd3e6a5853bea3a3d826551","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-309.0833","next":"us-ky/krs-309.0836"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
