{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.0841","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.0841","heading":"Requirements for certification as an associate alcohol and drug counselor.","body":"(1) An applicant for certification as an associate alcohol and drug counselor I shall pay\nthe board the initial fee for certification, and shall:\n(a) Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;\n(b) Have obtained a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma;\n(c) Have completed forty (40) classroom hours of board -approved curriculum,\ntwenty (20) hours of which shall have been obtained in the previous two (2)\nyears, that includes:\n1. Screening assessment and engagement;\n2. Treatment planning, collaboration, and referral;\n3. Counseling; and\n4. Professional and ethical responsibilities;\n(d) Be under the ongoing supervision of a board -approved supervisor for no less\nthan two (2) hours, two (2) times a month in the practice of drug and alcohol\ncounseling; and\n(e) Submit a signed statement agreeing to practice by the code of ethical\nstandards adopted by the board.\n(2) During the first twelve (12) months after an initial certificate has been issued, an\nassociate alcohol and drug counselor I shall complete at least thirty (30) additional\nclassroom hours of board-approved curriculum as specified in subsection (1)(c)1. to\n4. of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 309"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54951","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:01Z","sha256":"fbd79f82a8c489a235ba989f6ce1726eed3f8a600db3af9a2ca53a87c68bc39f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-309.084","next":"us-ky/krs-309.0842"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
