{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.130","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.130","heading":"Definitions for KRS 309.130 to 309.1399.","body":"As used in KRS 309.130 to 309.1399, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Board\" means the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Art Therapists;\n(2) \"Licensed professional art therapist\" means a person who has completed a master's\nor doctoral degree program in art therapy, or an equivalent course of study, from an\naccredited educational institution, has completed all of the requirements set out in\nthis chapter, and has been issued a license by the board for the independent practice\nof art therapy;\n(3) \"Licensed professional art therapist associate\" means a person who has:\n(a) Completed a master's or doctoral degree program in art therapy, or an\nequivalent course of study, from an accredited educational institution; and\n(b) Been issued a license by the board to practice art therapy under an approved\nclinical supervisor authorized by the board;\n(4) \"License holder\" means a licensed professional art therapist or a licensed\nprofessional art therapist associate licensed under the provisions of KRS 309 .130 to\n309.1399;\n(5) \"The practice of professional art therapy\" means the integrated use of\npsychotherapeutic principles, visual art media, and the creative process in the\nassessment, treatment, and remediation of psychosocial, emotional, cognitive,\nphysical, and developmental disorders in children, adolescents, adults, families, and\ngroups. Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to authorize any licensed\nprofessional art therapist to administer or interpret psychological tests in accordance\nwith KRS Chapter 319; and\n(6) \"Accredited institution\" means a university or college accredited by a nationally -\nrecognized accrediting agency of institutions of higher education, or an institution\nor clinical program approved by the American Art Therapy Association, Inc.","path":["KRS Chapter 309"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42307","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:01Z","sha256":"c476232014c65cbb820b7eeaa4b3efd9ab81b309d2d77d93cd09a814d500578d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-309.089","next":"us-ky/krs-309.1305"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
