{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.134","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.134","heading":"Licensure of professional art therapy associate -- Education -- Supervision","body":"-- Terms of licensure -- Advancement.\n(1) The board may issue a license as a professional art therapist associate for a period of\nup to five (5) years to an applicant who has;\n(a) Completed the educational requirements for registration with the Art Therapy\nCredentials Board, Inc.;\n(b) Obtained a board-approved supervisor of record; and\n(c) Paid the required fees.\n(2) A licensed professional art therapist associate shall maint ain on-going supervision\nas approved by the board until he or she:\n(a) Is registered by the Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc.; and\n(b) Has passed an examination approved by the board.\n(3) At the end of the five (5) year period approved under subsection ( 1) of this section,\na licensed professional art therapist associate who has not completed the\nrequirements for licensure as a professional art therapist shall submit to the board an\napplication for an extension of licensure as a professional art therapy as sociate. The\napplication shall include:\n(a) A plan for completing the requirements to obtain licensure as a professional\nart therapist;\n(b) Documentation of compliance with the continuing education requirements;\n(c) Reports of compliance with supervisory requirements;\n(d) Letters of recommendation from two (2) supervisors of record; and\n(e) Payment of an extension fee not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100).\n(4) Upon review of the application and accompanying documentation, the board may\napprove an extensi on of the license as a professional art therapist for a period of\ntime not to exceed two (2) years.\n(5) If, at the end of the period of extension referenced in subsection (4) of this section,\nthe applicant has not completed all requirements for licensure as a professional art\ntherapist, the board shall rescind the license as a professional art therapist asso ciate\nand the individual may no longer practice art therapy, or refer to himself or herself\nby any title which would indicate that he or she is credentialed by the board.\n(6) A licensed professional art therapist associate may apply for the credential of\nlicensed professional art therapist upon:\n(a) Registration with the Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc.; and\n(b) Passage of an examination approved by the board.\n(7) An individual who is a registered art therapist as defined by the Art Therapy\nCredentials Board, Inc., but who has not passed the required examination, shall:\n(a) Maintain the professional art therapist associate license in order to practice\nunder board-approved supervision; and\n(b) Be scheduled to take the next examination following the approva l of the\nprofessional art therapist license application.\n(8) A professional art therapist associate shall not supervise licensed professional art\ntherapists, licensed professional art therapist associates, or applicants for these\nlicenses.","path":["KRS Chapter 309"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42310","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:01Z","sha256":"514518d22991e454cb145251e4e8dbad10c889a14d3496521d3bc346ca894260","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-309.1335","next":"us-ky/krs-309.135"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
