{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.300","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.300","heading":"Definitions for KRS 309.300 to 309.319.","body":"As used in KRS 309.300 to 309.319, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Board\" means Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.\n(2) \"Committee\" means Kentucky Board of Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of\nHearing Policy Committee.\n(3) \"Consumer\" means a person who is deaf, hard of hearing, or who requires special\ncommunication techniques in order to communicate.\n(4) \"Interpreter\" means a person who engages in the practice of interpreting.\n(5) \"Interpreting\" means the translatin g or transliterating of English concepts to any\nnecessary specialized vocabulary used by a consumer or the translating of a\nconsumer's specialized vocabulary to English concepts. Necessary specialized\nvocabularies include, but are not limited to, American Sign Language, English -\nbased sign language, cued speech, and oral interpreting.\n(6) \"Nationally recognized certification\" means certification granted by a national\norganization that is based on a skills assessment of the applicant.
