{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.301","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.301","heading":"Licensing for interpreters required -- Exceptions.","body":"(1) Effective July 1, 2003, no person shall represent himself or herself as an interpreter\nor engage in the practice of interpreting as defined in KRS 309.300 unless he or she\nis licensed in accordance with the provisions of KRS 309.300 to 309.319.\n(2) The provisions of KRS 309.300 to 309.319 shall not apply to:\n(a) Nonresident interpreters working in the Commonwealth less than twenty (20)\ndays per year;\n(b) Interpreters working at religious activities;\n(c) Interpreters working as volunteers without compensatio n. However, all\nvolunteers interpreting for state agencies must be eligible for licensure as\ndescribed in KRS 309.312;\n(d) Interpreters working in an emergency. An emergency is a situation where the\nconsumer decides that the delay necessary to obtain a lic ensed interpreter is\nlikely to cause injury or loss to the consumer; or\n(e) The activities and services of an interpreter intern or a student in training who\nis:\n1. Enrolled in a program of study in interpreting at an accredited institution\nof higher learning;\n2. Interpreting under the supervision of a licensed interpreter as part of a\nsupervised program of study; and\n3.
