{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.304","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.304","heading":"Powers and duties of board -- Administrative regulations.","body":"(1) The board shall administer and enforce the provisions of this chapter and shall have\nthe responsibility of evaluating the qualifications of applicants for licensure and the\nissuance of licenses.\n(2) The board may issue subpoenas, examine witnesses, pay app ropriate witness fees,\nadminister oaths, and investigate allegations of practices violating the provisions of\nthis chapter.\n(3) The board shall promulgate necessary and reasonable administrative regulations in\naccordance with KRS Chapter 13A and this chapt er to effectively carry out and\nenforce the provisions of KRS 309.300 to 309.319, including regulations to\nestablish authorized fees. Fees shall not exceed amounts necessary to generate\nsufficient funds to effectively carry out and enforce the provisions o f KRS 309.300\nto 309.319.\n(4) The board may conduct hearings in accordance with KRS Chapter 13B and keep\nrecords and minutes necessary to carry out the functions of KRS 309.300 to\n309.319.\n(5) The board may renew licenses and require continuing education a s a condition for\nrenewal.\n(6) The board may suspend or revoke licenses, or impose supervisory or probationary\nconditions upon licensees, or impose administrative disciplinary fines, issue written\nreprimands, or any combination thereof.\n(7) The board may seek injunctive relief in Franklin Circuit Court to stop the unlawful\npractice of interpreting by unlicensed persons.\n(8) The board may employ any persons it deems necessary to carry on the work of the\nboard, and shall define their duties and fix their compensation.\n(9) Beginning in 1999, on October 1 of each year, the board shall submit a report to the\nLegislative Research Commission indicating:\n(a) The current number of licensed interpreters; and\n(b) The number of complaints received against interpreters a nd any disciplinary\naction taken within the previous calendar year.","path":["KRS Chapter 309"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=30353","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:01Z","sha256":"857bbdd2117d22e9d55b9faa73b1fb142fb8895abcc6589bc6172e88148ad865","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-309.302","next":"us-ky/krs-309.306"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
