{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-309.354","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 309.354","heading":"Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy -- Appointments --","body":"Terms -- Reimbursement -- Removal.\n(1) There is created a board to be known as the Kentucky Board of Licensure for\nMassage Therapy, which shall be an independent agency.\n(2) The Governor shall appoint seven (7) members to serve on the board with the\nfollowing representation:\n(a) Five (5) members who are massage therapists licensed under KRS 309.350 to\n309.364, who have been in the practice of massage therapy for at least five (5)\nof the last seven (7) years, and who have been residents of Kentucky for at\nleast one (1) year;\n(b) Of these five (5), at least one (1) but no more than two (2) shall own or direct\na board -approved massage therapy training program or be a designated\nrepresentative of a school owner or of a school director; and\n(c) Two (2) members shall be appointed by the Governor and shall serve as\nmembers at large who are neither licensed massage therapists nor spouses of\npersons who are licensed, or have a direct or i ndirect interest in the profession\nregulated under KRS 309.350 to 309.364. One (1) of the two (2) may hold a\nlicense in another health care profession.\n(3) Appointments shall be for three (3) years with initial appointments as follows: three\n(3) appointees  shall serve three (3) year terms; two (2) shall serve two (2) year\nterms; and two (2) shall serve one (1) year terms. The Governor shall assign terms\nto initial members at his or her discretion.\n(4) The board shall elect initially, and annually thereafter , a chair, vice chair, and\nsecretary from its membership and shall meet at least once per year, and more often\nas deemed necessary, at a time and at a place in Kentucky for the board to fulfill its\nduties.\n(5) Each member of the board shall receive a per d iem not to exceed one hundred\ndollars ($100) and other actual and necessary expenses for each day he or she is\nactually engaged in the discharge of the board's official duties.\n(6) Upon recommendation of the board, the Governor may remove any member of the\nboard for a poor attendance record, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office.","path":["KRS Chapter 309"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50943","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:02Z","sha256":"796360f2cb522e816a6566bf77e6a6adf6e79e725c62da032d39373c18862dbf","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-309.3535","next":"us-ky/krs-309.355"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
